for the property buyer
Decide What You Want
Before you can start hunting for a home, you need a good
idea of the kind of home you want. While this may seem obvious,
you would be surprised at how many new homebuyers only have
the vaguest idea of the home they want.
In deciding on the home you want, you should first:
Determine what's out there. If you're a first time home buyer,
or buying a home in a new area, you need to know what is out
there in the way of homes. That means familiarising yourself
with the styles of available homes in the area, typical features,
prices ranges and differences in areas.
For homes in your area, you can save time by contacting
your local estate agents or you can drive around your chosen
areas looking for property for sale. Either way, you'll soon
be able to compare the prices and features of similar style
homes in different areas or different home styles in the same
area.
If you're relocating to a totally new area, you can start
reading the news and classified ads in the new town's local
newspapers or you can simply do your house hunting online
by using our convenient property search tools.
Prepare a wish list. Here's your chance to create, at least
on paper, the home you want, with a list of the features you
absolutely need, those that you'd like if they were available
and those that you definitely don't want. So take a minute
and complete your personal wish list.
Armed with your wish list you will have a much better idea
of the type of property you are looking for, which you can
take into any estate agent's office to ensure that the agent
gives, or sends you, the type of property details that are
of interest.
